Oman’s Turtle Hatching Season is incredible and among the best times to visit Oman in general. There are only handful of locations where we can view turtle hatching in its full glory and here are some reasons why you should visit Oman during the Turtle Hatching Season: between April and August each year, approx 20,000 turtles visit Oman’s eastern beaches to lay around 50,000-60,000 eggs. There are about 7 types of sea turtles in the world of which 5 of them visit Oman to lay their eggs. These are the Green turtles, Loggerhead turtles, Hawksbill turtles, Olive Ridley turtles, and Leatherback turtles. Major beaches visited by turtles for their nesting and hatching are Ras Al Hadd & Ras Al Jinz in Al Sharqiyah region, Masirah Island, Ad Daymaniyat Islands, beaches of Dhofar Region and the north eastern part of country. Ras Al Jinz is a natural nesting site and considered to be one of the largest nesting sites in Indian Ocean for endangered green turtles. Ras Al Hadd has different species of turtles (around 50-60 of them) nesting each day.
